What happened :(

One of my bettas was found dead this morning.. I noticed some weird "goo" coming out of where she poops on her body... Could it have been parasites or is this normal?? I noticed the night before she was hovering at the surface of the water.. I don't understand what happened here is a picture of her body to try to see..

Do you know what your water parameters were at? Tank size? Stuff inside tank? Any odd behavior before their passing? How long have you had the fish?
