ChiefBigFish has fishy dreams
What's Wrong With My Texas Blue Cichlid..?

I have a 90 gallon tank that I filled the first of January.

30 gold fish lived in it for 4 weeks.

Then I replaced them with 2 Red Tiger Oscars (3"), 2 Convicts (1.5"), 2 Texas Blues (one 4", one 3"), and a small pleco.

The big blue was a real bully at first, chased the smaller blue relentlessly. Never much bother the other fish though, and the rest mostly have gotten along. One Convict chases the other but the two Oscars seem to swim in harmony, always.

The smaller Texas blue has turned dark, and fuzzy. It has been rubbing against a large rock in the tank and is mostly lethargic. Although I've tried to catch it to move it and it gets fast. But looks like heck, for 3 or 4 days now. Anybody know what may be wrong?

All the others seem to be doing fine. The bigger Texas Blue looks good. About 3 weeks ago I added two small (1") Jack Dempsies. I'm feeding them a pinch or so of Cichlid food once a day, maybe 25-30 granules . The Oscars tear it up in a hurry and no doubt get the lions hare. How much should I be feeding them? Thanks!

Have you tested your water parameters? When you say he is dark and fuzzy do you mean there is a whitish fuzz on him or it is a dark fuzz. Does it seem cottony? If he is rubbing up against things and lethargic he is flashing and that can be the result of many things, usually parasites but not always.

As for feeding, feed them as much as they can eat in a couple of minutes. If the amount you are feeding is gone in a few seconds, then give them another pinch and see if they eat it. Also you could feed them a couple times a day as long as there is no leftovers.
