white spot?
Hi, i recently (last Friday) added 4 guppies to my tank. One died within 24 hours and the rest all look ok. Last night i noticed one of the female guppies has some wee white spots on her body and im paranoid its white spot. I have had white spo before when i ket goldfish and it wiped out the lot!!!
What should i do? Yesterday when i first spotted it i got treatment from the pet shop and added a dose. I also today did a 50% water change, is there anything else i can do to prevent an outbreak? Many thanks Jennifer |

Don't add medications at all. Slowly get the temps up to 87 F and add extra aeration or lower the water level a bit. Keep the heat up for 2 weeks after the spot of ich is gone.
Do the spots look like grains of salt? If so then it is ich. Ich meds can destroy the beneficial bacteria as well as they are much harder on the fish. What size tank and what are all the inhabitants? Moved to unhealthy fish forum.

Whenever I get ich I add half of the recommended dose of ich medication because then it won't wipe out the beneficial bacteria. That's just what I do and it works really well.
