Yellow tail acei spots? Normal or no?

A couple of my fish have recently gotten these black spots on them. One has died. 2 of them now have them but seem fine and healthy. Does anybody know what this is or if its normal?

I have had them for some time now and my parameters are good. Thanks!

There loads of theory's with regards to black spots on mbuna, the top three include:

A diet high in spirulina.

Stress.

Parasites.

I've had spots on mbuna for years without issue, they seem to come and go and my best guess in my situation was stress. When fish that were being harassed seemed to have a higher amount of black spots, when the fish was removed the spots would go away. In my opinion it's harmless and likely not the cause of death.

Well plus one to what Hukit said. When I first started out I was feeding store bought cichlid pellets the main ingredient was spirulina so I thought it will be fine. I changed to hikari shortly after and it went away. Not sure if it was that or something else but ya. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
