Algae growth comes from nutrients in the water column. Large water changes with ro/di water, to ensure these nutrients aren't coming in through your water changes, along with manual removal is necessary to address the issue. You may also need to cut back on feeding or look into some sort of filtration on the system to assist with nutrient export, like a protein skimmer which will remove proteins before they can decompose into the nitrate cycle.

When you do the PWC make sure when you take the water out that you siphon out as much of the algae as you can. Do a water test on a batch of new water to make sure you are not adding the excessive nutrients. If the water is ok then do some frequent PWC`s.
