I have a 28 gallon saltwater tank that has been set up for about 2 months now. Levels are perfect and everything. But, I noticed a few of these little guys are growing in my yank recently. I'm more curious as to what is and if it's okay. I have 4 clowns, 1 blue green chromis, 1 fox face tang, 3 scarlet reef crabs, 2 turbo snails, 1 banded starfish, 2 emerald crabs, and 2 peppermint shrimp. Will this effect any of them, will one of them eat it, should it get bigger, or should I just simply take them out? I have one growing on a live rock, and 2 in the back of the tank in the crushed coral/live sand mix. One I took off the sand for a picture. Should I just take it out?

I think the bigger issue is the stocking of the tank. 4 clowns will eventually fight and probably 2 will end up dead. The foxface is also too big of a fish for that 28 gallon. You should reconsider your choices in fish.

I missed that

Clowns all came at the same time, and they're fine. The fox face has been doing good, he's been in the tank for a month, and there's plenty of space. Getting a bigger tank, 60 gallon, in a few weeks. And my main concern was the plant, because I want to make sure it won't hurt anything.

Foxface's will need a tank bigger than a 60g. That fish will not do well in a small tank that size. I'd suggest returning it and getting something that will fit your tank. Have you thought about some gobies or blennies? Some species would do well in a 28. Most if not all would do well in a 60g.

regarding the original post:
That could be some type of sponge as well. Many varieties of sponge branch like that.
