whatever it is... is there anyway to get rid of it. catching it is impossible (i've tried).

Depends on what it is. What does it do when you try to catch it? Does it retract back into a hole in your rock? Do you ever see the whole worm? If it's a peanut or spaghetti worm, the bulk of the worm lives in the rock and it just sends out some feeding tentacles - so catching it would be virtually impossible.
