slush hears surf in the shell
crab came on my new acro

today i just received my new acro with a wired crab on it its about and inch big and it kinda looks like this http://www.mbl.edu/marine_org/images...eus.dorsal.jpg is it bad should i take him off the acro

Hmmmm...that's a tough call from the pic. I have 3 different acros that have "acro crabs" in them. They basically keep the coral clean of detritus and defend the coral if attacked by fish. Mine do not look like that though. I have a crab in my pocillipora that has been in it since I bought it and it is red and looks a little like that. Not sure though.....

I think it looks like a gorilla crab and I would get rid of it.

It looks like the crabs that came with an order of LR I got a couple of years ago. I did not let them into the display tank

that's not an acro crab. they have a lighter shell and reddish appendages. i vote for tossing him in the sump.
