The picture does not really show the true color, but the crab is grey

Steve, I have several of these also and the first thing I thought was the claws look like a porcelain crab. But, I've seen them picking off the rock and have yet to see the filter appendages come out to feed. Is this crab a threat?

Sorry for the threadjack ajg1460.

More than possible it's a species of porcelain. They will not always be filtering the water and they do eat algaes.

The flat broad claws are usually a sign of being at least "reef friendly"

From the pics I don't thing that's it (Porcelain) . On the back of the claws it's jagged not smooth. Wish it would come out so I could get a real good look. Claws are small and I have seen it picking hair alagee from in and around plops. No problem threadjacking helps us all learn

Have you been able to get a look at the carapace shape and if so can you decribe it?

Cheers
Steve
