I have found a new hitch-hiker on my live rock. Its a dark brown, hairy all over crab. Its claws are very big, but are not pointy/sharp like most crab claws, they are more like flat, blunt tongs with a large surface area (about 2 mm in diameter on each 'point') if you understand what I mean?

He's about 1.5" to 2" wide. Will try and get a pic, but he's a tricky one!

Thanks

I don't know what kind it is but I have one that looks just like it and it does no harm that I have found, I even fed it a peice of shrimp and it would not take it.

looks like an emerald crab to me.... they're harmless... they eat algae.

Just a guess here, but it probably is related to the emeralds. My emeralds were green and very hairy. Try mithrax spiosissimus. Either way I doubt it's a threat right now but you might want to keep an eye on it as it gets bigger. Even emeralds have the potential to be not so fish friendly when they get large.
