Looks like a common emerald crab (Mithrax sculptus) to me. Generally nice to have in the tank as long as there is enough algae in the tank. They work wonders on bubble algae. If they don't have enough food however, they sometimes do pick at corals.

Yea it does look like a stone crab. And it looks pretty big. You can see the claws in the first photo. I would say that it isn't reef safe.
