crab identification

Can anyone help me identify this crab? is it reef safe? I think its a mangrove crab but not positive.

Looks like a common emerald crab (Mithrax sculptus) to me. Generally nice to have in the tank as long as there is enough algae in the tank. They work wonders on bubble algae. If they don't have enough food however, they sometimes do pick at corals.

If it is a mithrax crab (which I think it is) then they are hit or miss. I do know that the CC star that is in your info is not reef safe.

What about a stone crab? Someone from another site thought that was it, and does resemble it.
Melosu58 I need to update my tank info. CC star is gone.

Yea it does look like a stone crab. And it looks pretty big. You can see the claws in the first photo. I would say that it isn't reef safe.
