Dust?

This has been "spitting" out if my live rock, every time I clean it up it reappears. What is it?! I was told it's nothing to worry about but I would like to figure out a way to get rid of it, it looks like dust and it's right in the middle of the tank!

Well that is what I thought as well bc shortly after it started showing up I notice little white string like things on the rock if I clean it up a minute or so later it will shoot out again, could something be living inside the rock? I just want to get rid of it!

im sure thats what it is . if its not hurting anything just leave it . thats a natural look and a natural sw critter. unless u just dont like it

Looks like sand to me. See any being moved by the flow in the tank? It wouldn't be much. That is probably a low flow area and it can't keep the sand suspended.

if the dust bothers you flip the rock than it can fall to the sand bed instead

Turkey baster will blow it off quick. Essential equipment for a tank IMO.

My family got mad at first when I took the turkey baster for my tank but now i practically adopted it as my own kid that sounds weird, but seriously. I use it more than anything else in my tanks.

You shouldn't use one that's been used and washed. Get a new one they are cheap.
