eel identification help please

I have this eel and my lfs couldnt identify either.... so i was woundering if someone can help.

Perhaps myrichthys colubrinus (black and white banded snake eel)? Try google and see if that is it. Either way, awesome eel you have.

Yeah i have seen the banded snake eel very similar in color but not the body... by the way thanks i appreciate it

The Harlequin Eel looks very similar to yours, he has the fin on top.

Which is also the same thing as a banded snake eel so nevermind... sorry

It's not a snake eel (Ophichthidae) but a type of moray (Muraenidae). I'm just going through my literature to pin the name down - I hate it when I remember seeing a photo of a species, but can't recall where (or what it was called). Hopefully it will come to me soon.

I'm not hugely confident that it's the species I was thinking of, but Gymnothorax enigmaticus is close. If it's not G. enigmaticus, it's another species in that complex.
