It’s a bristle worm. Harmless member of your clean up crew. If you feed too much, they will get huge.

Do they do any damage to reefs?

No. They’ll eat uneaten food and poop. Only thing they will hurt is your hand if you touch them. The spines on the side do sting a little and can be hard to get out of your hand at times.
