Friend or foe?

Found this guy on my rock. Looks like he's in a shell that my hermit recently vacated. I took him out for now since I thought it could be a vermetid. Can anyone tell what he is? Click image for larger version

Thanks. It looks like that's what he is so I returned him to the tank.

That wouldn't be a shell that was vacated by a hermit. Snails don't travel from shell to shell.
When it comes to vermetid snails, they don't move. The shell they create is attached to rocks and other such things and they throw out a web to catch food from the water column.
