My tank is 6 months old and my sand always looked dirty. What can I do to make it look better. Also my nitrates are at 4.0 nitrite 0 ammonia 0 also if you can't tell it has a green tint on the sand before this I hade my LEDs off for a week because I had a little bit of hair algae.
As for fish I only had one Chromis, sand is aragonite pink. I feed it once ever other day I just added two clown yesterday

It looks to me like you have a lot of broken rock in very small pieces scattered all over the sand bed. If it were me I'd be tempted to pick out the larger pieces and skim off the rest with a net.

With regard to your algae problem, what test kits are you using? Nitrate readings of 4ppm could actually be a lot higher than you think. Phosphate is another major player in the growth of algae. I added I phosphate reactor to bring my phosphates down.
