A general rule of thumb can be that hairy legs are bad.
I’d assume he is simply cleaning things up, but with hairy legs and what could be black tipped pointy claws I’d banish him to the sump to be safe.

Crabs can be unpredictable. The will usually eat dead creatures, algae, and leftover food they find on the bottom, and yes even snails and shrimp. But if there are fish snoozing on the bottom, he may grab onto them too.
