Growing on hammer

I noticed today that my hammer i bought about 2 weeks ago has polyps on it, it almost resembles xenia, anybody seen these? Its on the stalk.

It does appear to be xenia. Probably would be best to try and remove them before they get closer to the hammer polyps.

But wouldnt the hammer kill it since the hammer is more aggressive?

He didn't say what would harm what. Just a good idea to separate them and give them space before they start fighting.
