help? what is this on my tank?

Hi all I would like your help please, I noticed the other day that one of my peppermint shrimp had died, no idea why as fed every other day and water perimators are fine, after I got the corpse out of the tank, i had a good look to see if everythink else was ok. It is thank god.
But I noticed this milliped type creature coming out of the rock work, its an orange/ yellow colour, I don't know what it is at all,
Is it safe? Does it do a job? Or do I need to some how get it out of the tank one way or the other, pics are not the best.
