Difficult to see from the pics but yeah could easily be a sponge. I had a similar White / clear looking branch which I believe was a sponge, that's sort of what I'm seeing in your pics. I really don't think it's anything to worry about!

Are you talking about the white stalks coming out of the rockwork?

Yes..the ones that are sticking out from the rocks, like branches

I have just seen your pics again on a larger screen, not so sure anymore. Look at the id database on ultimate reef, usually pretty good.
