Do you ever see the whole star out?

I see mine occasionally, but it's usually just a leg or two. I've seen them a few times completely out in the open, but not for long.

That looks like the ones I have... so its either a brittle star or I've been calling mine the wrong things.

I have a large brittle star in my nano at the office. I have heard that they can eat fish? Any experienced this? I have a pair of clowns in the tank.

My lfs had a large brittle star (approx 9 in diameter) that he said had been eating fish. Offered it to me as a joke to rid my tank of a rambunctious damsel! Ha ha

I read that it is the green brittle stars that are more likely to eat fish

The green ones are more apt to eating fish than the others. How large is that leg? The mini ones only get to barely the diameter of a small coin. They couldn't tackle anything but maybe an amphipod.

The legs that I have seen are up to about 2".
