I notice that i have a slime like slug in my tank, white with light brown spot, i just bought couple new snail for my saltwater tank, and already 2 of them have been ate. The slime hope over the entrance of the snail shell and stay there..when i use a stick to poke it..its runs and hide back in the live rocks... can someone please ID this slug and how i can get ride of it.

thanks you

ps will try to get a picture asap.

Definately need a picture but it sounds like a flatworm. I've never heard of one that attacks snails but I'm sure they exist.

I've been losing snails too, and I couldn't figure out why...
I also have seen a white slug-like creature in my tank. Coincidence?
If I see it again, I'll post a picture.

Sounds like a sea hare to me. It looks like a flat work that folds it self up a bit and kinda almost looks rabbit like hence the name sea hare. It's kind of a white-ish color with gray markings all over it? I found a pick on

however the coloration is different the the lighter color ones I have gotten. If it does look similar look at the warnings. It can release a die and a toxin that can be harful to it's tankmates. Tom

Not likely since seahares are herbivores.

Is it possible for a snail to leave it's shell, say, it was broken, and they are looking for another shell?
What are your water parameters?

Ok, just wondering. I have been looking all over the place, trying to ID the "slug" and haven't been able to find anything, yet.....

+++EDIT+++
Does it look like this, from seaslug forum?
http://www.seaslugforum.net/factsheet.cfm?base=navainer
This sea slug is carnivorous, feeding on other sea snails and slugs. The navanax will follow its prey’s mucus trails for its dinner. One of the navanax’s favorite meals is the Bubble snail. The navanax will often have so many inside of its soft body that when you pick it up it will feel very lumpy. This is where its nickname “bag of marbles snail” comes from.

possibly do a search on this:
Navanax
they are known to eat snails, but the coloration you described is not the same.

this looks like your description from slugsite.us :
