Is this a polyp?

Found another hitchhiker on the rock that our Green Finger Coral is on. It reminds me of a venus fly trap and will fold in when something gets on or scares it. I am hoping this is a polyp and not something I don't want in the tank.

From what I can tell it is a zooanthid. They are not harmful and are a pretty good hitchhiker to get. To see more zooanthids, you can check out www.logicalreef.com and click on the zooanthid link.

Oh that is too cool, thanks! I've checked out Byran's site and plan on getting some, the colors are amazing not to mention his prices, I found out where he is from, Florida, so that's cool, he sells out fast though, I'm hoping he has some more when we get our taxes back! Thanks Micheal!

You should subscribe to his site newsletter, that will give you a head start when he has some new ones harvested.

Looks more like a button polyp (protopalythoa sp) to me, but either way it's a cool harmless hitchiker!

man i wish i would have gotten some hitchhickers like that. all i got was a bunch of flatworms. yuck!

We got lucky the hitch hikers seem to be doing better than the Green Finger though, seems to be a picky leather, it's weird, it seems it has good days when our other Toadstool has bad days, weird. Gonna have to do more reading on the Green Finger. Still jazzed about the polyp!
