my tank has been running for about 4 months and i have had fish in here about 2 months - i have cleaned it off several times and lightly vaccumed the crushed coral which is normally white and this brown stuff covers my rock and glass...?

Hi, what do you have to a tank setup and equpiment? Are you using RO/DI water? That can happen as the result of excess nutrients, and immature tank, lack of clean up crew, not enough water changes...
 
Looks like diatoms to me. Mainly caused by silicates I think. A good cleanup crew will take care of it or you can let it burn itself out. I got two turbo snails and they took care of the glass in a hurry and hermits work on the sand. HTH

i have a 100 gallon tank with cannister and undergravel filter along with the 2 powerheads. I have not used RO/DI water and maybe that is the problem.

What should i use as a good clean up crew for this algea? Currently i have no clean ups what so ever.
