little brown things with fingers ?

i have a few little concentrated buches of these things. what are they? they also have litlle tiny transparent looking fingers to small for my 2.1 megapixil, something similar like the feet of tiny starfish. i had recently noticed these open up kinda . i had assumed that they were dead.it seems to be very common amongst the other rocks at the place i get them from. what are they?

They are cladacora sp LPS hitchiker coral.

I had some on my first batch of LR when I setup my tank, but they seemed to be a little more purple in color...

thanx guys. whats a good way to keep these things alive do i need to have live coral conditions like a lot of lighting or what? thanx for your help
