It'll be easier to tell what it is once it opens up, post a pic after it starts to open

Well, that isn't very open and it is obviuosly stressed out. Can you tell us more about it? How long have you had it? How was it acclimated to the tank? What are your current parameters and what lighting/flow is in the system?

I've had it for about 5 weeks. It's under a hydra52 light. Drip acclimated it for an hour then placed it near the bottom of the tank to adjust it to lights for a week before moving it higher.

Water parameters:

Calcium 460
Alk 8.4
Mag 1100
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.1
Phosphates 0.01
Nitrate 0.01
Nitrite 0.01
Temp 77-78

Flow- it's near the top of tank, with medium to heavy flow. (Depending on hour and which power heads are on. I have 6 in the tank. 4 always on and two alternate. So 5 running at any given time.

its very closed still especially for 5 weeks... test your ammonia its weird your having a nitrite reading. (at least a small percentage of weird)

Well nitrites I have tested in awhile but it was 0.01 or less.

This is also the way it looked when I purchased it. It's a small piece.

it doesnt look to hot tbh, they are both closed and usually have little feelers or fingers that come off of them, google leather corals and see what they look like open. Try dipping these in some coralrx.

This is the closest on Google

although that looks bleached, do you see how the polyps are extended and open, it almost looks fluffy while yours looks tight in and smooth, their should be polyps open when it is happy and healthy.

Yeah I see it now :/ and I thought it was doing good...

Move it to an area of lower flow, leathers (the toadstool included) don't like too much flow IME.
