I just got him. He swims right up to the front of the tank and stares at me. Never thought a $4 fish could be so adorable!

I think it could be a type of cardinal fish, look at his huge eye.

No, it's definitely a damsel. I think Malkore nailed it. A yellow or a pink damsel/chromis.
