Looks like a pod to me, no worries a very good thing. I have tons of them and my dragonette loves them
I have a pick of a few in my gallery. I get them every time I clean my polyfiler. I put them back in my tank and my scotter goes nuts.

I'm worried that what the thingamajig is sitting on is a decaying finger

I hope jimandjess are not hitcher fans

Yeah, freaked me out there for a minute, too! It does look like a finger

But it IS a pod! And they loved by a good many fish! Soo... it's not a bad thing!
