Orange tube worm with fishing line?

There are tube worms growing on my live rock, bright orange worms with 2 antennae. They come out of their tubes and "cast" out a spiderweb like thread for a bit, then reel it back in by twisting around. The worms/tubes are approx 1/16 in diameter and 1/4 long. Looks like they have cemented themselves onto the rock. There's also one cemented on a crusty old snail I have, too. What the heck are these guys? Please see pics, wormcast pic shows the thread that the worm casts out, flying off to the left. We have named him Babe Winkleman.

They are not worms...they are actually snails.

snapcrackler ~

I have a couple pics of Vermetid gastropods on one of my pages ....

This page - >>Hitchhikers & Oddities<< - about 2/3 of the way down. There are also a couple links there with more info. on these critters.
