Need a pic for positive identification. If it is in sheets with air bubbles trapped underneath it is most likely [acronym:25c0cf6cea="Cyanobacteria"]cyano[/acronym:25c0cf6cea] bacteria. It will break up readily(this will also spread it).

camera is not working right now. The algae is only on the live rock, not the substrate. Its not in sheets, its in balls, like a cotton ball, Its lighter than [acronym:1c44a23ea3="Cyanobacteria"]cyano[/acronym:1c44a23ea3].

[acronym:a4604feabe="Cyanobacteria"]cyano[/acronym:a4604feabe] can get thick like a red carpet and feel soft and spongy. If you try, it should peel up pretty easy. Or, perhaps it's some type of sponge. Hard to say without a picture. Sorry your camera is broken.
