I haven't had feather duster worms in my display tank since I first added my live rock close to two years ago. I am starting to see them pop up here and there and I think I have a red one. All of the others are white how could a red one pop up? Is it a mutation of did one just hide for close to two years?ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1441151947.902445.jpgthat is the best picture I can get. Max zoom

I have had red, yellow, and dark blue ones pop up in my tank. Before those I had just the whitish/gray ones.

Polychaete worms are pretty tough survivors. It could have been dormant for a long time and now conditions are correct for that species of worm to survive. I don't think I'd put anything past them considering they're found almost everywhere in the ocean, even the abyss and deep water vents.

The rock it is on was dried out and boiled. These things must be immortal
