Shrimp or ?

OK this is living in the sand substrate. The tube it lives in appears to go to the bottom of the tank about 7" down. I just saw it for the first time a couple of days ago and was able to get these pics.

What is it exactly?

I have no idea, but it looks a lot like a crawfish.

I thought so too but not sure. The claw tips look a bit different. Almost need to remove the shrimp for photos to be sure.

At first I thought I had large worm. The tube appears goes to the bottom of the tank (about 7" down). Then I got a look at this and also thought it was a Pistol shrimp. I have never heard any sounds from it though.

I guess I could move the rock rubble above it and try to capture it for a better photo.
Anyone else have any ID ideas?

Looks like my Japanese Pistol Shrimp. They like to dig a hole (usually under rock) and hide all day long and enjoy having some rubble to cover their hole. I would also suggest getting a shrimp goby (pinkspotted gets along well with mine). Take a look here: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=2129
