i cant get a picture because they are too small. about 1/4" max with bug eyes. they have tails that look like a shrimp tail. it is forked. they also have small fins that are always flittering like a mandarin dragonette near thier head. they dont crawl like a shrimp, they swim. mostly nocturnal

any thoughts

Could either be an amphipod although they crawl not swim or more likely a mysid shrimp. Does it move about with the body straight or curved under itself? Translucent or opaque?

Cheers
Steve

the tail is straight and they are pretty translucent. i think i have a few amphipods also. do they crawl kind of curled up with thier tails under them? are mysid bad? i also forget to mention they kind of remind me of very fast brine shrimp

thanks for the info

Probably mysid shrimp as Steve has already suggested. They aren't bad and alot of fish like them. Nice little natural snack for your fish.
