i bought 2 snails yesterday and one start crawling around eating a lot of algae but one of them just stayed in one spot, is that normal?

They look like they might be nerite snails. I have a couple and they come in different colors, some with patterns, some not. Nice snails if this is in fact what they are. They love algae and are one of the few snails that will eat cyano.

Looks like a Margarita Snail (Margarites pupillus) to me.

Agreed -- the bottom photo looks exactly like the Margaritas I just picked up. Good brown algae eaters and pretty active, at least in my tank.
