Something in my live rock

I found something in my live rock where it had been broken there is a small circular looking thing in there. Hard to explain but its soft and dark tan colored. Doesnt seem to be growing much. Any ideas?

Is it flat or rounded?
Could possibly be a small sponge or shroom....
