Erok7620 has started an aquarium
what is it?

I was told at the LFS it was not aiptasia which was my first guess since it has been spreading rapidly. They thought it was some sort of polyp. It hitchhiked on the LR. What do you all think?

Looks to be Pachyclavularia. Is there a red-purple mat from where the polyps extend from that is not showing up in the pics?

Yup... or some variation of the species. Definitely not aiptasia, so rest easy!

It actually looks like an encrusting gorgonia ...Mobile Bay Reef Keepers :: Encrusting Gorgonia Jan 1 2004 middle of tank
Or it could be a gsp , they can be confusing at times ...
