Looks to be Pachyclavularia. Is there a red-purple mat from where the polyps extend from that is not showing up in the pics?

yes, its kinda of a pinkish light purple mat.

It actually looks like an encrusting gorgonia ...Mobile Bay Reef Keepers :: Encrusting Gorgonia Jan 1 2004 middle of tank
Or it could be a gsp , they can be confusing at times ... |

Sorry, but I still disagree. They still look like hydroids to me. gorgnia or gsp? I don't see it but maybe you are right.
