What is this.

I see this on alot of Live Rock, and i have some of it on mine. I was wondering what it was and if it sevred any purpose.

looks like a form of Macro Algae.. a good thing for the Refuge.. I think it might be hamileda but doesnt seem to be as thick/big.. Check around for pics of macro algae..

Yep, it's a calcerous macro (one that when it dies makes up quite a bit of the coral sand on the reefs) called halimeda.
