Hey Guys!
I am new to this, but I just bought a salt water tank and am letting it cycle before I put any fish in.
This new growth appeared on the overflow box in the past several days, and my girlfriend thought it was a baby starfish.
I was wondering if that is what it was, or if it was some other hazardous growth or a sort of barnacle.
Thanks!

Thank you very much guys!
That was quite helpful!
Looks like my girlfriend was right, as usual.....

A few in a tank is good but watch out they can quickly take over your tank, if that happens consider harlequin shrimp that's their natural food.

I hear they eat corals too. So I take them out whenever possible. That is if you're going reef

I know there is one variety that does and they have green on them. At a demonstration at a coral farm they actually said most were ok in the tank and actually was wanting some if people had extra.
