What is this?

Have some orange color forming on my rocks. Not sure exactly what it is, maybe diatoms?

My tank is freshly cycled too.

Ya just looks like some diatoms starting. It happens to all new tanks and it is very visable on your nice white base rock. Eventually it will spread all over the place and turn purple like it did in my tank.

As in a ugly purple or a nice coralline purple?

Should I just leave it be?

Should i post a pic of what mine looks like? I doesnt look bad, i like it. Its not coraline though... I wish i knew what it was!

That'll be great! I do t really mind it since I need some color in my new tank.

I keep scrubbing it off ... And rubbing rock hard under hot water... Diatoms stick to rocks a LOT... only thing that got it off completely was bleach when I disinfected my tank one time..

You can see it in the back behind the candycane coral. It doesnt look amazing, but its better then white rocks IMO
