hope the pic turns out never did this. on the rock that the blenny is peeking out of. what is this brown thing that just appeared one day and is it friendly?

Hard to tell from the picture but it looks like a small brown polyp.

i know the pic is not good...but it is not like my green buttons it has no "fringe" on the edge and it is cupped like or vase like. thanks. lor

Maybe a small mushroom polyp. These will often spring up from seemingly nothing. They can grow from the smallest remnant.
