What kind of fish????

I was told by lfs that this is a bullet goby. What do you think.

it doesnt look like the ones I have seen, but maybe it is in a strange phase of coloration..even then, seems a stretch. Is it acting like a bullet goby? constantly sand sifting?

I agree he looks a little different. Could still be some type of bullet goby. as Lisa asked does he do alot of sifting.

There are somewhere around 2,000 different species of Goby, so pinpointing an exact genus and species is next to impossible. I agree with Hara and Melosu though, it could very well be a variant of the bullet goby. However, if I could even attempt to narrow it down to a genus...I'd guess Gnatholepsis or Cryptocentrus. But...those are total guesses.

Google the black goby, Gobius niger (I think) and see what you think.
