looks like white mushrooms to me also. Could be severely bleached.

It's hard to tell exactly what it could be in that shape. I would take that rock out of my tank and give it a good scrubbing to get as much of the algae off of it as possible. Though not the causing factor to the bleaching, it will be beneficial for them not to get choked out by the algae if it continues to grow unchecked.
