white stuff growing.

I went away for the weekend and came back to find a weird growth in my 3 week old tank with a small amount of live rock. I cant get a picture because it is growing behind some rocks. It is a thin white film, covering spots on my sand. The closest thing I can say it looks like is when a spider wraps its prey just before it eats it(the little cocoon). I pulled a little piece out and it is sort of leathery. I'm guessing thats it is some sort of alge but i can ID it off of any sites. Hope someone knows what it is.
