Wormy thing... help

Okay, so I noticed yesterday this wormy thing poking out of my live rock. It looked like a tiny bloodworm. I will not be able to get a picture, as my digital camera is so outdated. He was reddish/orange and the tip (which is apparently his mouth) was fading into white from the reddish color. My boyfriend called me and told me that he was eating algae and moving bottom rocks. I just need to know if I should yank him out of my live rock, or if he's alright staying in there. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. 8O

Sounds like a bristleworm, are there any bristles on it? Bristleworms are harmless unless it is a fire worm but thoser are more rare.
