I hate to be a bother but I can't figure oput what this thing is.

almost center, right of the picture, just to the left of the snail, there is this little "volcano" looking thing. At first I thought it was just some stuff on my lr but now it's mobile. It moves all over the rock. Anyone got any ideas?

BTW I have 3 or 4 that I have found so I need to make sure they are wanted.

It's a limpet of some kind. Does the very top of the shell (the tip of the volcano) have a hole in it? I can't tell from the pic.

Like this?

Not sure if it has a hole in it or not. Mine's not as big as the one you pictured. A little smaller than a dime.

Irregardless of size, if it has a hole in the top of the shell, it is most likely a keyhold limpet. If that is the case, I would recommend removal... as they have been known to sometimes feed on the flesh of corals.

Most limpets, however, are harmless herbivores... so just keep an eye on them.

I'll try and get one out and get a better picture. If it's a bad critter I want it gone. 8O

In this picture even though it's blurry, you can see his "feelers" The thing acts like a snail.

I just noticed one of these on my LR that appears to be eating a sea squirt. Maybe I should get him out of there.
