Not exactly a "what the heck is this" ID question, but an ID question none-the-less. I was watching my zoanthids this morning and noticed that one of them had their mouth open really wide...and then a small dark ball popped out of it and started to float around the tank. I think some of the other ones have done it too.
30 gallon planted with 30 watt fluorescent plant bulb. Millenium 2000 wet/dry filtration, DIY CO2 generator, 150 watt heater, and air pump. Mostly low light plants such as java fern, anubias, moss, corkscrew vall, wisteria, and some drift wood. Mostly have tropical fish such as tetras.
10 gallon nano reef aquarium. 108 watt power compact fixture-Two 36watt 10K bulbs and one 36 watt actinic.-hammer, green star polyp, colt, zoanthids, trumpet, candy.-O. Clownfish and green chromis. 11 pounds live rock and live sand. 2 pumps, aqueon HOB filter, heater.
10 gallon goldfish tank. Aqueon HOB filter, 2 three- year old goldfish. A little peice of java fern.

I have seen this in my tank. It is the waste product of the polyp. It is nothing to worry about. Some people even say that it is an egg caused by the asexual reproduction of a polyp.
