Equipment-wise it didn't cost much. The tank only cost $45, heater was about $15, and the light and hood I made out of sheet metal, wired in 2 light sockets and added 2x 10w 50/50 build that were like $20 all together. Lastly I added a LED moon/actinic light that cost another $15 to make. So the whole tank set up cost around $100. I don't use any chemicals so no cost there.

The live stock is another story....I really have no idea but I'm guessing around another $200-250. Wow I never thought about how much i have in this little tank.

I have been taking a Pic of the CF tank about every 2 weeks or so, I put this "slide show" together and think its worth sharing. The first Pic is from Jan 14 2011 and the last one was take on March 30 2011.

This tank was awesome to start with but it'd definitely grown into one amazing pico


Definitely hard to believe this was your first real SW reef! I'm jealous!

haha, well if it make you feel any better, these small tanks make me want to get my bigger tank going.

Good news on that, I finally found a house and should be in it around May 6th. So then i can start my real project!
