How does my new 10 gallon iwagumi aquascape look?

So it looks like Im going to get store credit in return for those dead shrimp! I think I will get maybe 1 or 2 more amano shrimp and some thai micro crabs.

Where did you get that deal from for the shrimp? And do the micro crabs have gills?

I got the deal from a guy on here that lives close so he shipped them to me which will only take a day so I will be getting them tomorrow. Thai micro crabs are fully aquatic. Thats what makes them so cool! They are really small though so almost all fish will have a go at them, they are also filter feeders.

The amano hides in a little cave whenever I disturb the tank too much, its kind of funny! Dont mind the raining algae, I just cleaned the glass.

Help! Well I got home from school today to find put that the biowheel pretty much quit. It has very little flow. I tryed to clean it but there was nothing in it. So Im going to go get a aquaclear 20 later. Should I leave bothe filters in there? Or put the biowheels media in the aquaclear? Please help soon!

Hmm i would take some of the media and put it in the new filter and leave the old filter in. That way you're only adding new surface area for the bacteria

A couple weeks should be good the longer the better. Then you can take the old filter out.

+1 to everything cammy said. And it's just leave the bio wheel forever. Low flow = more contact with BB.

Just got the aquaclear 30 (is that fine?), going to grab dinner then head home. I was told I can just put the biowheel and the media in the aquaclear. I dont have anything besides 1 amano shrimp making ammonia right now. But Im expecting RCS tomorrow.

I have no experience with aquaclears. Some say shrimp aren't enough to cycle tanks.

Hey about the food for the Amanos (not only algae eaters, they LOVE meaty foods) and dwarf shrimp mine highly prefer, to the point of near frenzied insanity, and I am not kidding, the Hikari omnivore sinking wafers with the orange label. Wafers are small.

I use most of the Hikari products and actually feed the dwarf shrimp a variety including Shrimp Cuisine, but still they really love the sinking wafers!!! Break off little bits instead of whole wafer for only a few shrimp.

Though my grown Amanos will steal a whole one and munch it like a hamburger, lol.

Shrimp can die off due to ammonia spikes so test often.

I put in the biowheel and polyfil instead of the carbon and I tore the actual sponge stuff off of the biowheel filter pad and stuffed it in there too.

Stayed home from school today, also just so happens the shrimp are coming today too. Anyway I woke up and was looking at the tank this morning when I saw this stringy algae on the DHG. I dont know what it is. I hope its not cyano bacteria, I already battled with that before and it was awful! Here are some pics:

Just got the shrimp and put them in. These things are TINY! Good thing I have that sponge prefilter.

There was one bigger one, that seams to be the leader. Lol

When I got them, I was actually so excited that I guess I cut my knee on a piece of glass from my old broken CO2 diffuser and I didnt realize it until I looked down and saw this:

Just put in an algae wafer for the shrimps. None of the RCS touched it but the minute the amano sees it hit the floor from the cave under "his rock" he swims over to it super quick. Its funny, he will sit and eat for a couple minutes then stop and run around his rock then start eating again. Lol he did this 3 times. Then he came up to the glass and looked at me. I think he was saying thank you. Lol

Also, I have this parrots feather that I got with the shrimp. I dont know what to do with it. I have it floating now.
