my new 20G

here is a pic of the 20G Tall we put together over the weekend. changed the substrate today after finding out the hard way that Floramax is a mess. Cleaned the Floramax pound by pound through a sieve, then put 1" back in followed by pool filter sand. The Stones came out of a storm water retention area that my wife picked up today. Scrubbed then boiled them in the brew kettle before putting into tank. The plants in there are Melon Sword, Telanthera, Giant hair grass, and amazon sword. I don't like any of the plants other than the swords. We are going to see if we can find some ferns and dwarf grass or something. Lighting is only a single T8 8k 15w and filtration is an AC 70 with carbon removed, extra sponge in for mechanical, and pantyhose on the inlet to subdue the suction a bit. Plan on upgrading the lighting probably next month, going to see how bad this one does, since I don't like those plants anyway. Also need to find a nice piece of wood or something to tie both sides together.

Currently fish-less cycling with the plants and added ammonia from Ace hardware. Unsure yet of what the wild life will be. Thinking of making this an aggressive tank, but still on the fence about it, because I like a lot of different fish. Probably will start with some snails and shrimp.

And advice and/or recommendations always welcome!

Tank looks nice. Maybe a few GBRs and BNPs?

Nice job the cloudyness will go away on its own. Sand makes a mess at first

Thank you very much for the compliments! as i said..hate the plants, but we will learn with them.

I really like those German Blue Rams. Guess with those i can have it a community aquarium. But if they spawn, wouldn't pleco's be a problem? Was thinking Nerite Snails and some kind of filter shrimp for cleaning duty.

I like the plants I'd leave them and just add more.

German blue rams will spawn if they are a pair and can become rather aggressive during spawning. That's something to take into consideration. They defend their fry
