Is the water that low for a reason? It's looks like a nice tank

No reason. Didn't have enough water last PWC.

Definitely more plants. And perhaps a background? I just switched to a black background and it really makes the colors pop! I have black substrate, too. ( To save money i am trying a very large black trash bag taped on the back of the tank as suggested on this forum. If the creases go away I may keep it. It also has a sheen to it I don't care for so I may buy black background at my LFS. But at least it hides the cords.)
